Some wise old person once said if life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I, on the other hand, would prefer to toss the lemons in a bowl and head to the trail. One good thing about where I live is that I have several trails close that I can get to in a fairly short time. None of them are very long, but that is ok, and since they are loops, you can stay on them again for as long as you want or need.
Winston and I hit the trail a couple of times a week now. The weather has been really nice despite the word on the street being this year. June has been the hottest in record history for the area, which may be factual it sure does not feel all that “hot,” considering I’ve had my windows open all but maybe a couple of days in the last month and a half.
The trail was surprisingly busy, which was good for Winston as we are still working on not barking at anything that startles him, dogs, or humans. We hiked a couple of mines and then decided to call it a day when more folks showed up. I would not have expected this trail in the middle of nowhere Illinois to be busy in the early afternoons, but I guess it is “summer,” after all. Winston does well on the trail and does not wander into the weeds too often.
I also recently received a notification stating that a package from Amazon would soon arrive. Oddly I did not order anything from Amazon lately. Who sent the package, and what was in it? I have heard of people receiving packages that were scams, and if you get one, the process is to contact Amazon and send it back. Later that next day, it arrived.
